Practice for the EPT Event with Littlewoods?

A lot of online poker players wonder what it takes to win an offline event like an EPT event. They read about the winners on poker news sites, on their favorite poker blog, and may even attend an online poker school with articles written by past champions. They think, “Why can’t I do that?” The truth is, you can, but it takes a different skill set than playing poker online.

A great way to practice this is playing in one of the major tournaments at Littlewoods poker. Enter a tournament, but act like you’re playing live.

Sit in your chair the whole time, don’t act out and see if you can handle it!

When playing in a major poker tournament, luck plays a large factor. It doesn’t matter if you are playing Texas Holdem poker or Omaha Hi poker, sometimes, players will make very questionable plays and suck out on you. This may take a large part of your chip stack and cripple you. This is just part of playing in these major tournaments.

Next, you have to have your emotions in check. Unlike playing poker at an online poker room, when you play offline, everyone can see your reactions and can gain valuable information from it. If you are in the middle of a big hand while playing poker online, you can make facial gestures get up, or do whatever helps you make the correct decision. But, if you are playing live, you have to be able to sit still, not give away any information or tells, and make a quick decision.

Lastly, you have to have endurance and patience. Unlike online poker, where some tables play at a pace of up to 60 hands per hour, offline poker is a lot slower. And the larger the tournament, the longer sessions you will have to play at this slow pace. You may think you will be able to handle it, but it breaks even the best players. You have to be sure you can sit still for hours on end if you want to be successful, and maybe even win an EPT event.
